Hi guys, I've just bought a hazard light kit from Bull Motif. There was no picture provided when I bought it but now it's arrived I would describe it as a copy of the old Lucas type kits I've seen, I'm sure most of you will be familiar with it anyway.

Well the reason for this post is because I'm not very pleased with it, it looks rather cheap and I can't see it looking right in the car.

My question is this, is it possible to remove the pull/push switch part and replace with a suitable toggle that would perform the same operation? I would ideally like to have a Lucas type toggle (same as wipers, lights etc) with a separate hazard beacon wired elsewhere, or possible an illuminated toggle. Is it a straight forward job of just swapping the switch part or is this really not possible?

Secondly, following on from above, is it easier/cheaper/possible to source all the required parts and build the kit myself?

Later down the line, when I finish my drivers glove box build, I'll be installing left and right indicator beacons, so with this I'd like to wire them into the hazard swith so they both flash with the hazards, though I suspect this would already be a byproduct of the hazard kit?

I've not heard of anyone "converting " the push / pull to a rocker one and you might be able to get a refund on the new one

No, you cannot convert the switch using a standard toggle. There are multiple sets of contacts that break the connection to the standard flasher and make the connection to the hazaed flasher and both sets of indicators. You could use a meter to check the precise configuration and then go through loads of toggle switches trying to find one that matched. Another option would be to use relays - a combination of changeover and make/break could be operated by a simple toggle switch.

As above -you can easily make 'hazards' using a couple of relays. But why bother ? Do you really think they do any good?

Change the wiper switch for a light switch and wire the wipers and electric washers to it. This will give you a spare hole for the push/pull hazard switch which will balance the choke switch at the other end of the switch panel with the ignition in the middle and a toggle switch either side of that
