Non Standard Fan Belt

Post by Andy W »

This info may be on the forum somewhere already but in case it helps anyone else -

I have the Marina 1275 block but with the standard original Minor ancillaries, inc. dynamo.

When I popped my (unlabelled) fan belt the other week, I found out the hard way that neither a standard 1098 Minor belt or a standard Marina (which had an alternator as standard) belt is the right fit!

Eventually, I found that this belt fits a 1275 Marina block with Minor dynamo - DAYCO 10A0825C.

825 (ie what you have there) is pretty much the standard length belt!

Really? Now I'm very confused...I wonder what the new belt that was in the boot when I bought the car was actually for then!
Now I feel a right plonker!
Oh well, at least the Traveller is up & running again. :D

It should be noted that there are different sized water pump pulleys fitted to the 'A' Series dependent upon year of manufacture.
There are also different dynamo / alternator adjusting links fitted again dependent upon year of manufacture.
For example:-
The Marina was fitted with adjusting link Pt No: 12G2627 (with alternator).
The Minor was fitted with adjusting link Pt No: 12H67 (MOSS) (from chassis No: 1192909).
The factory fitted fan belt for the Marina could be either GFB193 or GFB197.
The later fan belt fitted to the Minor was Pt No: GCB10900 (MOSS)
So fitting a fan belt to a Minor fitted with a Marina engine and with a dynamo instead of an alternator is not just as straight forward as may be thought. :D

Yes there are many variations - if a more 'bulky' alternator has been fitted it probably sits further out from the block....And yes the larger diameter pump pulley to slow the water pump.... I did say 'pretty much' the 825 is the standard belt. It will fit most - but not all options.
