Did BMC put the BMC rosette on cars when they left the factory? If so where would they have been placed on Morris Minor Travellers?

I was told that the dealers put them on the cars. Suppose that means they would have been placed wherever....

We have a 2 door saloon thats been in our family for 26 years. When I first bought it the remains of the original rosette were still up in the top corner of the windscreen on the passenger side. Ever since I have always put one in that corner on most of the Minors I have owned throughout the years.

Hi All
I don't usually like to revive old topics, but this one isn't too old.
I have a question about the BMC Rosette window sticker.

Does anyone have any info on when these started to appear?
I know BMC was formed in '52, but when did the sticker in the window start?
Did they even have 'cling' stickers in the '50s?

I do wonder how many people would have just taken them off the window anyway as they are a bit large in a small windscreen.

Reason I'm asking is that it seems a bit out of place on my black '55 2 door, it looks so 'Sixties' IMHO.

I know it's my car, I can do what I want etc., etc, so I might just remove it anyway, but I just wondered what the history of the sticker was...

Thanks

Apparently the standardised BMC Rosette dates from 1961. Prior to that it seems that there were three different rosette emblems. Those for Austin and for Nuffield (Morris/Riley/Wolseley/Vanden Plas) being almost but not quite identical, whilst a separate one with the octagonal badge as it's centre was used for MG. As dealer rationalisation began in 1961 it might be likely that rosette windscreen stickers were introduced at the same time.

Some years ago I purchased a one-owner 1958 Austin Cambridge which had the remains of a rosette sticker (not the cling type) on it. It wasn't red white and blue; all the design and print was in off-white.

That pretty much confirms my multi-colour Rosette is a bit out of it's time. :)
