Some idiot has put glass fiber on the surface in places and I want to remove it to see what it is hiding. What is the best way of doing this. The car is going to be re-sprayed any way, and I want to do the job properly . Any advice ?

Use an old wood chisel, be prepared to find a hole underneath.

Great Thanks I will try that. Better than grinding it off.

warm it up with a hot air gun,it will soften and can sometimes just be scrapped off, sometimes it just falls off :D watch it doesn't. take fire though.

Wear gloves as well, you can get splinters from the matting.

Wire brush or flap wheel in angle grinder. Wear a mask....and eye protection.

You're lucky the repair was made with something as durable as fibreglass!!Anyone like to hazard a guess as to what was used to repair the floor in front of the rear seat of the traveller i bought? Are you ready for this?Cardboard covered in underseal, yep, that structurally solid age old repair technique!
And i quickly gave a quick review online of the idiot garage who put this through an mot!!
He also missed the rot at the spring hangers, non existent crossmember parts, chassis rail parts, completely rotten sills etc.etc

Back in the 70's,as poor students, we used flattened beer cans.

Cardboard, I thought you were going to say concrete. I have seen that before, it stops the testers screwdriver coming up through the floor

Some garages offer a 'Postal MOT' service for an extra fee....so they may never have seen the car.
