Cast clamp

Just bought this cast exhaust clamp manifold as the one I had was not a cast version and was leaking carbon monoxide into the engine bay. Having it professionally fitted tomorrow.[frame]

Surely you could fit that yourself. Scissor jack under the front pipe, jack the pipe up to the manifold, check that it is correctly positioned, fit and tighten clamp.

The two and four piece (less nuts and bolts) exhaust to manifold clamps are more than satisfactory if fitted properly.
A smear of grease on the contact faces helps it to slide together

Professionally fitted? It's a 5 minute job -and most of that is getting the old clamp off....

where did you get the clamp from they are like gold dust ive got the rubbish pressed steel one pleas let me know by pm if poss

I work at a technical college with a motor vehicle department.
The tutors there do it for me and show the young students at the same time, that's why I don't do it myself.
I managed to get the clamp from the bay! cannot leave link as it gets deleted.

Very timely subject--for me! Although I have done this task successfully (using the above method ) many times in the past, I am now on my second day of struggling to fit a new system to my "new" van. Seems to me the cup part of the joint has been incorrectly attached to the primary pipe and so cannot align the joint evenly.Tried the single bolt wrap around clip and the supplied two bolt pressed one but makes no difference--it just will not line up and seal.
Previous owners have caked it in sealer, so much so that I ended up removing the manifold to get it clean.
Seems I have two choices, send it back (to famous supplier) or cut and re weld in the correct position.
Anyone else had this frustrating problem?

stainless steel systems are renowned for poor fitting exiting from the engine bay floor

The problem with both the cast clamp and the pressed up version I found was the hole size is to suit the manifold diameter where as the exhaust pipe is a lot smaller so it only grips on a small part of the exhaust pipe cone,I finished up making my own clamp from a piece of mild steel bar and turned one up to suit the different diameters of the parts on the car ,the cast version of the clamp does though look a far better job than the pressed up version

I too bought one off the eBay guy, yesterday, and it arrived this morning - looks very good.
12/11/15 - I've now fished out the orignal cast one I took off my Traveller (as the bolt threads were nearly stripped and the bolt heads were spot welded to stop them turning) - the new one's bolts are much shorter and may pose a problem with fitting the bracket that the throttle return spring attaches to.
I think I'll cut through the spot welds and refurb the original casting as another spare.
