One wheel binding.

Hi all,
Jethro's front nearside wheel was emitting rhythmic squeaking noises when I pushed the car out from under the carport today.
The braking system was renewed last year with new drums, cylinders, springs and shoes and to be honest I haven't done very many miles since then.
I backed off all adjusters and swapped the front drums but the problem still remained on the nearside.
The car drives and stops OK but the nearside shoes are definitely rubbing intermittently even with the adjusters wound back as far as they will go while the offside wheel spins freely. When fitting the drum it seemed to bind on the shoes when the securing screws were tightened fully.
Is it a case of the shoes being slightly too thick and just waiting till they bed in or am I missing something?

You have swapped the drums so no problem, next swap the shoes. First check that the pistons are returning fully and the springs are assembled correctly

One or more of the brake cylinders is stuck - it's nothing to do with shoes or drums...

Thanks guys, the cylinders are new but I'll check them anyway.

New - a year ago !! With little/no use since.... Maybe free off with use - but I would open them up, make sure they are free moving - and refit with a good dollop of red rubber grease . Hopefully they are 'genuine' cylinders and not the hopeless repro cylinders ? If the cylinders are ok - you can try chamfering the ends of the linings.

Offending brake freed off today after a few short runs, I will try to use the car a lot more (work permitting!).
