I get between 30-40 mpg, which is between 10 and 14 km/L. So it seems like yours is OK.

Never even approached 40 mpg - check your odometer.. So - 40 miles is 64 Km, and a gallon of fuel is 4,54 Litres. So 40 mpg is near enough 14 Km/litre. So your 8 Km/litre is heavy Sandun!! Your consumption is more like 23 mpg - which even I could better, on a modified 1098 driven 'enthusiastically'. You must be very 'rich' on the mixture - what colour the plugs ? Or it's leaking somewhere,....

Original tests on the 1000 reported 46.5mpg on 'steady speed figures'. I go steady :D I can report around 36 - 38 mpg previously. Current improvement I put down to timing adjustment, plus Distributor Doctor points and running on 30psi in tyres.

And a very optimistic odometer! I never beat 30 mpg - but then never 'steady'. I do know how to drive 'steady' without being slow - getting 59.5 from my modern diesel -and that mostly on fairly short journeys.

Did the London - Brighton this year and took readings from fill up to fill up and if the odo is correct returned 42.5 mpg with very mixed driving. I am good at economy driving though. The mpg surprised me I must admit. It's a 1963 1098.

I'm surprised - both my 948 saloon and my 1098 Traveller get driven fairly hard, cruising at 60 mph (genuine, not indicated!) and I return around 38 mpg from both of them - this is on journeys of around 20 miles, but admittedly out of town.

It is relatively easy to obtain 40mpg+ from a Morris Minor. I always found my 948cc car slightly more economical than the 1098 one I have now. When I commuted daily (more than a 20mile journey on main roads out of town) I always averaged around 41 to 43mpg and could get even more on longer runs - once getting just about 300miles from a tankful of fuel. It will always depend a bit on how the car is set up and how it is driven of course as well as length and type of journeys and even the weather and temperature.

Hi Sandun,
Maybe you are running a bit rich, with black plugs.....? And driving in heavy traffic and lots of hills to climb will increase petrol consumption.......

You should be getting in the high 30's mpg in mixed driving and up to 44/46mpg on a long run.

If not either the car needs setting up or you have lead boots! ;-)
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Bottel 1 = 750 ml
Bottel 6 = gallon 1
1L = 1000ml
Gallon 1= 4.5L
Then..
1Km = 0.621milee
If u Run 40 mpg it same to 9Km run 1L So 1 Gallon run 40 Km
