Ring Spanners

Years ago I purchased a lovely set of ring spanners, and they are still serving me well. I now want another set, and have tried numerous suppliers. All offer me combination, offset, long reach, and deep offset. I don't want those, just a set of plain double ended ring spanners, metric 6mm - 19mm or 21/22mm. They used to be sold in just about every hardware store, so why can't I now find them in shops or online? I think that I shall have to become a professional grumpy old man - except I don;t feel old yet

I appreciate the suggestion, but those are described as "deep" and I just want low profile profile ones - I find it better to have the lvering force in almost the same plane as the nut, rather than lifting it 3/4 inch away.

I just don't understand why it's so difficult to find such a simple thing!

There seem to be ratchet versions but normal ones are a bit rarer...
Are these too expensive?

The post is listed on a 'Minor' forum - therefore the subject matter could reasonably be expected to be about something for use on a Minor...... However I really commented to make the point in case others (and many do...) buy metric tools and then wonder why they don't fit the fasteners on their Minor.....or indeed they go ahead and suffer damaged parts and bleeding knuckles !

Indeed it does - but is not a preferred size in the metric system. Generally -if I have work to do on any of our 'moderns' I use my air hammer gun with it's stronger sockets - since pretty much everything on a modern these days is larger and tighter than is normal on a Minor. Saves a lot of time and effort...

The above ring spanners are of normal offset which is about half the offset of a deep offset ring spanner.

Fortunately I have some of the normal offset Britool metric ring spanners (similar to those in the link above) and some King Dick & Gordon deep offset metric ring spanners to compare.

Normal and deep offset both have their uses. One of my most useful spanners is a Gordon Tools 5/15 W x 3/8 W ring spanner with a normal offset but with an angled shank between the ends.
I just purchase tools which I find useful whether they be deep or normal offset or even angled shank - or as they say in the trade 'Horses for Courses'.
Additional Britool normal offset ring spanners can be found on 'e' bay but not all in the same place.

Halfords sell decent stuff now and a lifetime guarantee, pretty well all you need. Although I'm duplicating some stuff, couldn't help myself and bought a comprehensive socket set, in their sale. Didn't look too closely at their ring spanners but maybe worth checking them out.
