Hello,
I have just sprayed my numberplates which were tatty. However, I am not happy with the finish, it is not smooth and shiny. How can I shine this up?
Thanks.

Sounds like you did not prepare the surface before you sprayed them, if the surface is rough. The lack of shine could be due to spraying on a damp day.

You may be able to get a shine using rubbing compound, T cut or a fine metal polish, but you should let the paint dry and harden for a week or so first. I think plates were usually a satin type finish so needn't be too glossy.

Poor preparation as above. Spray can too close - or too far away. Rub down and try try again! Practice makes perfect....

All sorted.........rubbed down with wet 1000 and 1200 wet/dry paper and finished off with t-cut. Looking lovely now

Wouldn't dream of such blasphemy! Black with aluminium raised letters/numbers (a right faff to mask these off too, especially the curvy ones!)

Rather than traditional masking, try using a smear of Vaseline. Then just wipe clean when your done.
