Advise needed please

Hello. I have recently purchased a 1961 Morris Minor 1000 2 door saloon. It has had two previous owners and the tax disc indicated it was last on the road on July 2000. It has 16000 miles on the clock and I believe this to be genuine. It has a new MOT and I am using it daily. Is there anybody out there that would be prepared to give me a little time to look over the car with a view to verifying its originality and what I should do, if anything, to improve this very nice example.
I live in Derby just north of the city centre.
Any help and advise would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Brian.

Welcome to the world of Minor ownership. You're very close to the Clubs Head Office. Best bet is to join the club and then arrange to pop over when someone will be there to look at the car; or go along to your local branch. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Also post a few pictures on here for comment. What makes you think that the mileage is genuine? Most cars of that age will have been round the clock at least once - ours are on the third or fourth revolution.

Unless there is a paper trail of old MOTs I would take the mileage with a big pinch of salt. But yes - let's see some pictures!

Thank you for your response, much appreciated. I have recently joined the MMOC (Derby) so I will call the office and check when it would be best to pay a visit.
I fully appreciate that the milage may not be genuine as it does seam a little to good to be true but the information that I have and the general condition of the vehicle would suggest otherwise. I brought the car, 825 DOC, prior to it being considerd for auction at Hansons in Etwall. It had belonged to an elderly lady who had passed away and was been offered for sale by a Nottingham solicitor as part of her estate. It has obviously been very well looked after as there appears to be very little rust, the engine and running gear are in excellent order and there is a sticker in the engine compartment from a garage in Nottingham indicating he next service is due at 17000 miles. I contacted the garage and spoke to the owner who remembers servicing the car many years ago and he thought that the milage was correct at the time in 2000, the tax disc on the screen is 07 00. Who knows though, I have no other documentation? The tool roll is still in the boot together with the original owners manual in the glove compartment. The interior is in super condition for the age and once I had polished the dull body panels the paintwork was gleaming again.
I personally do not mind if the car has travelled 116000 miles or more as I just love driving it but it would be great if one of you experts out there would take a look at it and give me a second opinion.
I have tried to attach a photo of the car just after I bought it but not sure if the image can be viewed.
