Stop Light Switch (948cc) Problem / Help

Having passed its MOT the 4door has now decided not to show brake lights !.

Connecting the two wires makes the circuit and the lights glow properly.

I presume it makes no difference which grub screw hole the wires go to ? ( the +ve feed being isolated in the switch (?? is that the failure on this unit ?) to the -ve earth that this car enjoys )

I presume when pedal pressure applied some kind of metalic connection is made from the T piece to the two brass connectors , making the circuit, which seems difficult to see how the unit can actually fail !

I note that brake pedal pressure is also spongy , becoming harder as depressed a few times - new cylinders have recently been fitted all round, but might not have been bled correctly ?

New switch required - see many other posts on the subject - there are some rubbish switches out there.

Brake pressure switch has failed, a common problem.
The braking system often benifits from a second bleeding session

The new switches dont seem to be the nice brass finish.

I am thinking, that given the slight spongy on the pedal , unscrew, check switch off car , refit if OK , then bleed through again.
(from memory start bleeding from the longest runs ( or as best as possible on the rears ) , then the fronts )

Nice new DOT4 fluid

I'll report back when done.
