The handbrake cable outer sheath has a boss on the 'leading' end with a screw stud on it. This obviously has to screw into, onto or through something to make the brakes work properly. I'm guessing it's the floor, but if someone could confirm that for me, and where best to position it, I would be very grateful. The floor panels are new, so there are no existing clues or helpful hints!
The car is a 1971 Traveller and is about to go off to have new woodwork fitted. it would be nice to think that someone could apply some weight to the car without it wanting to roll off across the workshop!
Thank you.

There should be a hole in the propshaft tunnel just in front of the rear seat bulkhead

That's it - hole each side - the stud pokes through and washer + nut on the inside.

Hi photo below showing my handbrake cable on 1966 traveller. cable etc covered with masking tape during painting of the floor. Sorry no photo for under car side, but assume there is another plate bolted to the one inside the car and this holds the end of the outer cable.
Hope This helps

No! The outer is held in the fixture that bolts through just in front of the rear seat each side...

bmc is correct. I have just checked and the photo above was cropped too much to show fixing. The outer is held in place by the fitting on the cable. Fixing bolt and nut shown in photo, not too clear so shown by black box

Where the cable passes through the tunnel, there should be a small leather pad between the cable and the tunnel wall. This is to prevent abrasion. An old belt can be cut to make the pad.
