Since I have the engine out,I am replacing the ring gear which is "chewed up" in places.What is the normal thickness of the clutch plate on a Morris 1000 Len

You need about 1mm of material above the rivets, to make it worth putting a used plate back, in fact usually best to renew whilst dismantled.
