Cleaning the years of ground in crud from the engine bay, I found this mark with a screw hole each side. There obviously used to be a badge or plate of some sort fixed there but what, anyone know? It's a '68 Traveller, no name yet.

The plate is still there on my '62 saloon. Same size and location as the missing paint on your car. It has two sets of letter/numbers each end with a large gap between. Z60619 and 385551. Stamped in a similar way to engine identity plate. But don't know what they indicate. Some form of identification possibly before the car number was allocated. It is body colour, as are the screw heads, and on removal there is bare steel behind. Maybe safe to assume it was fitted prior to spraying and assembly.

It's the body ID number, but there is no reference available. From what I understand it was an 'internal' numbering system used by Morris. The number does not correspond to documents or anything.

I wondered what these were too. I first noticed they were there when my MOT man used on of them in error on the MOT certificate where the chassis number should be.
One to watch out for there folks - could make getting your Tax Disc a bit awkward

And most of them are missing anyway.
