Refit torsion bars with arms in situ??
When I took apart my front torsion bars off last year I kept the front and rear arms on their respective splines, to ease reassembly (I hoped!). I must have taken them off by loosening the big nut on the end of the bars in the rear crossmember and hammering out the T-bars, but am struggling to refit them. Is their a knack to doing this, since I am doing it the unconventional way so to speak in that I'm trying to avoid sliding the bars on the splines? Should I screw the rear nut up fully before trying to lever the T-bar into its hole, or leave it loose?

No need to tighten anything - have you got the washer with the U hole - and the stepped washer there? The washers just sit on the hole - the stepped washer from the rear - and the nut is tightened - the arm swings up to whatever adjustment hole you are using in the reaction plate - then put a bolt through that - and tighten it all up. Simples ! No need for ANY hammering...

I don't know what hole in the vernier plate to put the bolt in; this is the problem. But I have left the arms on the splines as they were before I took them apart, so hoped this will help. I rang the ever helpful Morris Minor Centre and they said just put both sides in the middle hole of the plates and the plates up against the floor. Is this my best bet?

Put the bolt in the centre hole and when the car is on the ground check the height (after bouncing a few times to settle the suspension) - the suspension can be adjusted accordingly. You may fall lucky and the centre hole is the one you need.[frame]

It's easy to move the hole later once the suspension settles - and it WILL once the car is in use. - that's by far the least of the worries !

So I can move the plate hole later without faffing around taking half the suspension apart and moving splines?
