The 803cc engine has a screw on filter (with additional filter securing by a wire clip and bracket) on the off side of the engine block under the dynamo. The 948cc engine has 950 cast into the block under the front cam follower cover.
The 803cc engines were invariably changed to a 948cc unit when they got worn. The 803cc engine gave very little power and changing to a 948cc engine gave a much better power band.
At least the change has been recorded even if the date was not. Is the change of engine cc (or not) recorded on the V5?
A photo of the current engine would not go amiss especially the side of the block under the dynamo and under the front cam follower cover.
