Jacking point repair

If the centre crossmember is being replaced, does it need the jacking points or can these be ommited?

You do not have to fit the jacking points. They might look "right" but nobody uses them and they only collect mud and muck, and therefore rust.

The jacking points are not essential and can be left off. A scissor type jack seems to give the smallest height for placing under the front or rear suspension when a tyre is flat.

I've got them on both of my minors... Flooded them with waxoyl and put a rubber cap on.

They add no strength and you must NEVER use them anyway. Leave them off. They are sold as extras to the Xmember repair - so save the pennies!
