Heater control valve

Post by borristheminor »

Have a 72 van and 57 saloon and both heater valves are leaking. Am lead to believe by ESM that there is a quality issue with these units. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice as both are leaking badly.

my heater valve does not turn off at all , not funny at the moment ,!it was on my car when i got it and the quality looks poor so i am going to fit the earlier type brass tap type , i don't have a heater control cable as my car is a 55 so the tap should be a easy solution

Just fit a stub pipe and let the water flow ! The valve should never be closed anyway.

why should it never be closed ? on models without a heater the outlet was blanked off , my 100e side valve i had worked fine by just turning of the tap ,

Many things have changed - unleaded fuel for one, and the engines have now all done many many more miles = more scale internally. Feel free to Ignore the advice if you wish.... :o

I for one have certainly never felt the need to run with the heater on in hot weather. My car has never overheated and neither have I! Keep the cooling system in good order and it should be fine. After all, the Morris Minors supplied to really hot countries didn't HAVE a heater did they!

Hi there, I don't know if you've already solved the issue but....

I've used a vertical stub, 1/2 inch, that we make out of aluminium. Just google RetroSport heater stub :)
