After reading the problems ,with removing the brake master cylinder.I decided to cheat a bit.I cut the heads off the two retaining bolts and pushed them out.when I fit new ones I will put them in the other way round.I didn`t fancy all the problems of forcing the torsion bar out of the way,and this was so simple and cheap ( TWO NEW BOLTS £2.00 ) and no frustration.

a lot of us do that but make sure the nut head and thread is clear of the torsion bar when all fitted up you may have to grind down to make it thinner

If he puts them in the wrong way round it won't be the bolt head close to the torsion bar, it'll be the threaded part

By the way. You might think there is clearance around the torsion bar but one day you'll probably wonder what that strange rattling sound is if you put them in that way.

I've got a couple of spare torsion bars, one has got two grooves worn in the shaft, strangely they line up exactly with the two master cylinder bolts. Can't understand it !
