Hi all,

I'm in sunny Sri Lanka and restoring a low light as well as a 1956 split screen traveler. At he end of my restoration I would like to have both vehicles as near to original as possible. Therefore, can anybody advice me of the following :-
a) What is the best spare parts manual for the above two cars.
b) What is the best work shop manual for the above two cars.
c) Are there any pictures of the original interior as well as the exterior of these vehicles. Need to see what the front and rear lights, interior etc. look like before he restoration.
d) I need the windscreen, rear glass as well as the side door and rear passenger rubbers. Can anyone advice me as to where I could source these.

I know its a long list. But I'm stuck at this point and unable to proceed.

PLEASE HELP.

For pictures and descriptions of the MM and Traveller you need to buy the book "Original Morris Minor" by Ray Newall, ISBN 978-1-906133-03-0, this covers all models and includes internal and external photos of MMs. A new one cost me £25 just a few years ago. You should find one on e-bay.
Original workshop manuals are available on e-bay and reasonably priced, here in UK. You need one that mentions MM on the front cover. Parts manual, I have never seen one and don't know if they are available, try e-bay again.
Best of luck on your projects, not many people would take on two at once?

The best parts manuals are the genuine types. They pop up on eBay from time to time:

They're great in that you see exactly how parts are bolted together but the part numbers don't mean much these days unless you happen to find NOS (New Old Stock) parts. Current Morris Minor specialists/suppliers use a totally different numbering system.

I have 2 spare parts manuals, bought them in a groop from 3, because they are never on the market.
The best one, I keep it ;)
The other 2, I have to think about an acceptable price.
I have also a spare workshop manual, but there are differences.
A complete one, with all the update information, and the first type, I have both.

As soon I am at home, I can check the numbers from Mike if they are the right.

Hi Collin, many thanks for having taken time to respond to my query. Actually, I am restoring three Minors. A 1949 MM. A 1955 Series 2 and a 1956 Traveler. I may also very soon be having a 1949 tourer.

I have been searching for these cars for many years and as fate would decree all have appeared together. So I have no choice but to take them on.

Original workshop manuals and parts books can be obtained through the club spares.Please pm or email me after 1st August if you still have not got them from anywhere else.

I have 3 workshop manuals:
one is only for the MM, with sections A-R, without any numbers,
one is series MM and Series 2 with sections A-T, also without a number on the outside, but inside numberIssue 3(H) 79357-4/53
And the latest is the same, but has AKD530, and has extra add ons with number 3718-8/56, so from 1956, together with the note minor 1000.
The service parts lists are from October 1950 and 2 from April 1951, all the 3 without a number.
Number 4 is the fourth issue, from the AKD 615.
So my spares are 1 or 2 workshop manuals and 2 or 3 service part manuals.
But for the costs it is cheaper to find a UK user with some spare, so the club spares should be my choice ;)
