As the topic says. Have cut the line to take it out of the car, but still can't get it off. I assume the tank is a write off now?

Use mole grips as I presume the nut is now damaged.

I tried those too, but might have another go.

Most useful tool to have IMO, managed to get all the screws out to remove the fuel tank that way.

Leave the fuel line in the tank and join it to the forward section with a length of modern flexible fuel line.

Wire brush around the nut. Soak in penetrating oil, applying regularly for a few days and then try again - try tightening just a fraction first before trying to undo. This is one occasion when heat should NOT be used

I cut the fuel line right by the tank so can't use it. Will try soaking over a few days. I did also try a cold chisel to turn the nut but no avail. Will the wire brushing make any difference now the nut is pretty much a circle with a chisel mark?

It nearly got collected for scrap by two people in an unnamed van today having only come out yesterday. Perhaps this is a sign I should get a new one.

It's got to be moveable, get a real good grip with the moles, you can't do any more damage. If the tank is in good order, shame to scrap.

Why not try filling the tank with water and then apply a blowlamp to the union nut or just drill it out?

Clean around the nut and see if someone has soldered the nut in as someone did on the traveller i have , its a shame you cut the pipe so close to the tank, and be aware some of the fuel line that is sold now does go soft very quickly if you are joining fuel pipe
