help wrong brake cylinder seals so confused
hi was wondering if anyone can help my son has just past his driving test and is getting his morris minor ready for mot he needs seals for the front brake cylinder but the seals i got are the wrong ones apparently his needs a donut seal as they are non standard so does anyone know where I can get the seals and if not would he be able to replace them with ordinary wheel cylinders or would they not fit thanks so much for your help
Re: help wrong brake cylinder seals so confused
If they are standard Minor drum brakes then there are two sorts of cylinder: "Genuine" or "Pattern". The seals are not interchangeable, so that might be your problem. Best bet is to order a new set of genuine cylinders from any of the traders who advertise in Minor Matters. If they are not standard brakes, then from what do they come?
Re: help wrong brake cylinder seals so confused
i would get a set of good quality cylinders and start from new it's a much safer option
Re: help wrong brake cylinder seals so confused
Not aware of seals for the pattern cylinders - but they are very unreliable anyway, so just get new 'genuine' cylinders as others have suggested. And if fluid has leaked on the shoes - new shoes too ! Are they 7" or 8" brakes - same cylinders, different shoes of course.
