Thought you might like to know that tomorrow this camera is for sale for only £39.99. (Scroll down.)

http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?id=573

The camera will go through a plug hole with ease. I bought one a while ago when they were a good deal dearer (I'm a bit of a sucker for interesting tools!) and found that although I use it rarely, when I do there's no substitute apart from disassembly of whatever's the worry. The last time I used it was when I woke up in the night wondering if I'd banged over a tab washer on my old motorcycle's mainshaft. Fiddling with a dentist's mirror and a torch thro' the primary chain's inspection hole didn't work but the camera showed me immediately that I'd not done it. So there yer go.

If your interested, I recommend you get to your nearest Lidl when they open; they tend have only 2 or 3 of such things in any shop. Regards, MikeN.

In these days of health & safety regulation and prohibitively expensive litigation I suppose I must warn you, Mr Irmscher, against any home endoscopies or colonoscopies; in other words no "topping or tailing".
There! That should indemnify the club, MikeN.

Shame I bought mine a couple of years ago (same store) and mine was twice the price then!
Slightly different model (still no steering mechanism, hence the "don't use it on your body" warning).
Mind you, the first thing I did when I got it was to look inside my ear!!! (Horrible).
George.

As this is waterproof i am sure it would be ok for "topping and tailing" but in the interests of good taste i would suggest always topping before tailing..Out of interest does anyone know if this can record, I have looked at the Dewalt one which is a lot more but i think it records, quite usefull so i can put the video on Youtube so others can see and comment on things, and yes i am talking about cars

irmscher, for the money this camera is amazing valve, i have just looked at the dewalt one and it seems the camera end is 17mm wide, quite large to get into most places, and probably no chance of using in a spark plug hole, if i can get to my local lidl and they still have any i am going to grab one. thanks

Regarding recording, my manual says (and I suppose this'll apply to the current model) there's a video output.

"The inspection camera is equipped with an integrated PAL video output port so that the picture can be recorded or viewed on an external monitor".

A cable is supplied but I don't understand the instructions to make it all work - but that's no criticism of the machine!!!

Mine has a video out port but it looks like a jack plug head phone point, i do not have a cable supplied but i am sure in one of my bits boxes i will have one, and the unit works fine for me well worth the money.
