Electric Windscreen washer HELP!

Prior to me purchasing the car, an electric washer pump had been fitted. Pump itself works - I used a length of test wire to check it, and it works when I hooked it up directly to the live side of fuse box under the bonnet - no switches etc. When wire from ignition fuse box is ran through bulk head, 12.8 volts are present right through to the switch. When switch is operated there is 12.8 volts to the spade connector that connects to the pump, though pump does not pump. As I say, the pump DOES work when wired directly to a live feed. Struggle to see why a functioning pump won't pump with 12.8 volts being supplied, and a good earth. Any ideas?

Jet/ jets are clear ?
Water in the bottle ?
One way valve installed the right way round ?
Any damage to the wire Switch to pump. Are you still getting a " constant " battery voltage if you wiggle that wire ?
( i.e could the supply wire from the switch to pimp be damaged).
Apologies if you've eliminated some of the above already.

Prime the pump
Suck through the outlet tube to do this then it will work.
Or, if the fluid is in a bag, just press on the bag to pressurise it as you work the pump.
Easy

Sounds like bad connection - or high resistance some way along that feed.

If the pump is running but not giving enough water at the jet change the wires over on the pump. I had this a while ago the pump only gives pressure one way connect it the wrong way and it runs but will not pump very well

I was going to ask what the polarity of the car was as the connections could need swapping around at the pump:D

Is it worth putting a 12 V bulb on a couple of wires disconnecting the two terminals that feed the pump and putting your two wires of the bulb across the two wires that feed the pump to see if the bulb illuminates when you operate the switch feeding the pump?

Whats wrong with the nice simple push bulb washer pump - it WORKS, and very well too! Electric pump is like anything else - power to the switch - wire from switch to pump and earth the other terminal on the pump. Simples !! I just don't see the need for this pointless modification....
