MORRIS BRAKES

I intend to strip the brakes down and replace the pipes etc.What size unions are they an my 1969 Morris .I have seen UNF and BSF for sale .So I need to know when the change over was,and to what Len

Should be 4 x 3/8"UNF on the front bridge pipes, 12 x 3/8"BSF on the rest.

And use Kunifer pipe - NOT dangerous copper....... :o :roll:

When you say bridge pipes are these the ones from the front shoes to the splitter.It`s OK Morris Minors are new to me.I have had to step down,from restoring Rover P5Bs following heart ops.

No, the bridge pipes are the ones that link the two front cylinders each side. Regarding copper pipes, I have never been concerned about using copper pipes until last week when I helped someone with brake failure on a Minor van and the pipe had fractured just below the flare on one of the rear pipes (union to brake cylinder). Not sure whether that would have been a faulty flare or slight movement caused by the rear cylinders moving in the backplate!

It is EXACTLY what happens with dangerous copper pipes. The flare work hardens the copper, and then the movement fatigues it. One of mine fell off when I brushed against it with my hand when I was inspecting the underside shortly after buying the car. Get rid of any copper pipes !!!
