55 Split Screen Trafficator \ Indicator Issue

Hi,

I have a 55 moggy with a 1.6 lancia twin cam installed, I had an issue with the 2 stage light switch so purchased and fitted a replacement (a pain in the proverbial as my wires don't appear to be coloured). Since installed my trafficators and indicators have stopped working.

My question is, does the light switch have any bearing on indicator function, if not I've clearly disturbed something in the birds nest that is the wiring....

Many thanks,

The light switch shouldn't have any effect on the indicators as the light circuit is always live whereas the indicators are live when the ignition is on. My guess is you've just disturbed a connection behind the dash somewhere.

The wires were coloured originally but, like on my '54, sixty years will have taken their toll.

If it was a house it would have been rewired twice by now!

Wipe the wires with a damp sponge to see if the colours are there. But no matter what - these headlamp wires are nothing to do with indicators etc. Check the Ign fed fuse !!

Thanks, mines wired slightly differently so I'll have to look behind the clocks and see if I've dislodged anything.

Apologies for being an idiot but just in case where would I find that fuse?

Thanks

Many thanks, I'll have another look, however the wiring is not strictly as it left the factory so there is additional bits and parts that have been removed due to the conversion.

Dear all,

It was a loose connection that I had caused when fitting a new light switch, due to the mix of original wiring and the bodges required as part of the new engine installation it was a bit of a mess in there.

Thanks

Go for it and order a new loom with plastic covered cables and all the extras you will need wired in to it.
