Hi,
What do feel would be the best way to fit the engine and gearbox? fit them together before hoisting in or fit the gearbox to the car and then hoist just the engine in?
Cheers
Martyn

Both together and then in is my perference, but you'll need a helping hand to guide the prop into/onto the box.

If you have decent lifting gear, then both together is much quicker. I tend to do one at a time mainly due to not having a hoist, and not usually having a second pair of hands either.

Thats going to make things rather awkward, why would you have left the prop connected in the 1st place Andrew, it should be 1st off last back.

Both together is my preference too. I always have the prop off at this point and re-connect it when the engine & box are in situ.

'Cos I tend to lift the engine out and forwards and leave the prop in situ - it's only just occured to me I could take it off and install it after on the refit! Just thick I guess - or didn't read the manual, as usual.

Well, not really Andrew. Your method means you don't have to refit the prop!! Ours means it's easier to position the engine/box. Whatever works for you!
