Looks like a 1967 onwards car mascarading as a 1955 car. Good possibility it's a stolen/ringed car.
Could be a stolen pride and joy of someone .check it out guys

A '55 car would have been a Split-Screen series II (see middle car in sig below).
One piece screens came in with the Series III (948cc engined) cars in October 1956.
My Trav is a September '56 and it is Split-Screen.
So, there can be no doubt that the blue one for sale is a "ringer".

Any pics of engine bay showing the vin plate?

If insurance discovered the boob, wouldn't be covered.

Its a shame if the current owner has no knowledge of the history, I always HPI any car im looking at and try and do a bit of research, The fake adverts on autotrader are annoying but easy to spot as they normally have email contact only and a story about the owner being in another country.

The trouble with HPI checks is that you're only checking the registration number really. The car itself might be a different car altogether :o

Many of the scams on Autotrader or ebay show pictures of a perfectly legitimate vehicle which interested parties then "HPI". The report shows no problems and people are often hoodwinked into sending money for the vehicle as a deposit or sometimes even the full amount! Later to find that the car, although legit was never for sale and that a scammer, probably in another country, has got their money..... Quite amazing how often this has happened.

As in the other thread - I saw this car today in Glasgow at the lights at the Royal Infirmary. It's certainly not a 55 car... But neither is it modified in any way.
