Currently have a 1970 minor 1000 saloon standard apart from electronic ignition recently cars developed an intermittent fault when driving it at points it's missing and hesitate then all sudden just cuts out dead at different points should it be driving at 40 or sitting stationary turning off at a junction just as if you had stalled it which I'm not lol usally starts fine again right away but afew times its refused had to get recovered had a local mechanic look at it who couldn't find any fault with batery coil ignition etc buy it's really annoying me and concerning as it can be dangerous and gave no warning seems ok for a week or so then plays up haven't changed anything yet only my petrol brand but still carrying on

Could be a loose/bad connection (likely)- or possibly a petrol feed problem (unlikely). Does it stop suddenly -as if you had switched off the Ignition - or does it 'splutter' to a halt? For a trial - I would bypass the Ignition switch with a temporary lead direct from the battery to the coil -and try that for a good long run.

Look carefully for any loose connections, give the HT leeds a tug and the wires to the coil and dizzy. Check the small wires in the dizzy and check the cap for cracks. Also check the carbon brush in the cap and try a different rotor arm. If you do not find anything try running the engine ie the dark and look for stray sparks
