Heater location.

Hi all.
Work progressing steadily here.
Come to refit the heater this evening. We have a mini heater which we have modified to take the minor controls.
Having bolted it in place, the lever sits very high.
If you see the picture, the flap is held closed and the lever sits only 5mm or so from the dash. That can't be right. What are we missing?
Thanks as always.[frame]

It's exactly the same as the minor ones we have in the spares box.
The heater carcass and mounting brackets look exactly the same for both. In fact the whole thing looks exactly the same, we've just modded the switches.
Don't know if we're mounting it wrong (it screwed in from above the dash) but something's not right.
Would be nice to have a spare car to check with!

If you post your location there may be someone who lives near to you for you to check their heater?

Just spacer it down a bit if you think it needs it - put the brackets under rather than over the lip. Looks pretty much ok to me as it is !

Can't spacer it down, as the top bracket sits on top of the seam.
Can't fit it upwards from underneath as there is another vertical flange in the way.
I'm on the Isle of Wight, but do know a few people with 1000s, so will try and have a look at some point.

I'd post you a picture but I have the uprated Mini heater in my Traveller and the older circular one in the Convertible.

What's the difference, post both up.
We had a look at a friend's 2 door yesterday and it seems that it is in the correct place. Maybe it's a case of thinking too hard about it!
