Brake lights on permanently

Back for more advice I'm afraid
I've just had the engine and gearbox out and topped up the brake fluid whist the gearbox cover was off.
The brake lights are now on all the time the ignition is live.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Pete

Did the brake light switch get squashed by the engine?
Did you over-fill the master cylinder, the level should be below the thread of the cap.
Is there some free play on the pedal?

Give the switch a few taps with a hammer and see if it releases.

Open and close a bleed nipple - did that help?

If none of the above works, it will need a new brake light switch. Quite a common fault with today's new switches I'm afraid.

Not sure how or why but this issue has solved itself.

Keep checking - in case they come again - or more worryingly,
don't come on !

Thanks and will do.
I think it was having topped up the cylinder.
