Does it jump forward & stall (sticking clutch), or just peter out which maybe low tickover?
What's the symptoms?

As above -what happens if you lift the revs when 'putting it in gear' ?

If I lift the revs when putting it in gear it still stalls. What do I do if it's a sticking clutch?

You un-stick it.... Has the car stood for a long time without use? It's not clear - you say it stalls when you put it in gear - what happens if you put it in gear - then start it up with your foot hard down on the clutch pedal? Or - does it stall when you try to move off, after putting it in gear?

I wouldn't have thought you could get it into gear with the engine runninh if the clutch was stuck. What I do to free off a stck clutch plate is to turn the engine over for a couple of seconds with my foot hard on the brake pedal / car in 3rd gear / clutch pedal pressed down and handbrake on. The car will try to lurch forward so be careful. That should free a stck clutch plate.

Oh no it can't be a stuck clutch plate because I've replaced it. It goes in gear but when I lift the clutch it loses power.

Ah well - that's a very different problem.. Brakes stuck on? Does the car roll easily? Or is the gearbox somehow stuck in two gears? Has any work been done on the 'box ?

Is the car on the road and used or is it a restoration? It's not just that the brakes are stuck on is it? Or clutch pedal jammed to brake pedal putting brakes on when clutch pedal pressed ? Or even just engine tuning way out? On a daily driver I can't see any of these just happening all of a sudden though.

You are not answering the questions.... we need good clear clues to diagnose from a distance... Is the problem that the car doesn't want to move - or is the engine simply not developing any power ?
