Interior trim

At the practical classics restoration show at the NEC recently I was able to pick up a nice big offcut of porcelain green vinyl. I want to cover the inner rear wheel arches, rear parcel shelf and front kick panels with it. I will use very thin MDF (or similar) as a backing for the kick panels but am I right in thinking there should be some foam and/or cardboard backing on the rear arches and shelf? Anything that was originally fitted to my car has long since disintegrated! Thanks.

The rear arches has about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick foam underneath and the back parcel shelf has really thin foam under it.

You must be nearly ready for the road soon?? :D

Thanks David. Lots of fiddly little jobs still to do but I am seriously hoping to have the minor at the National. :D
