one end goes on the end of the lever (the one that disapears into the bellhousing)
the other end clips onto the engine backplate

On both my cars one end clips to the engine backplate and the other end to a collar, (an extension of the clutch operating lever, see Ray's post) in front of the clutch adjusting nuts on the actuating rod.
Assuming that's the spring mixerman means?
I think we posted originally about the same time Ray.

I have a picture of the spring in situ....... but I can't upload it from work as this daft user account won't let me use FTP!
I'll see what I can do......

You've certainly confused me kevin! Mind you that's interesting to know LHD bits are available.

Looks like the clutch pivot arms were different for earlier cars then. The spring mount seems to be separate and not cast into it.

On the Minor 1000, pre 62 is early and post 63 is late (ish)

That's it Cam... Along with the underseal and oil which decides to fall on my hair whenever I do anything near that area (had half the car's underseal and oily depoists fall in my hair when I did the gearbox steady cable earlier this week... grrr..

no mate, it was a friend's car I was working on. I took some photos for her so she could see the underside for herself!!!
Actually the front of the car was very sound but the rear was dodgy. I replaced the rear valance and patched the boot floor while I was at it.
Why no Smiley??? What's wrong with the car (except the oil)? Looks OK to me!
