Stone chips

I do a fair bit of motorway driving in my 67 Traveller. I'm paying the price now with a few stone chips, mainly on the radiator grille (the standard white colour). Any tips on how to deal with what's already there and prevent, or at least minimise the damage of, more stone chips?

I suppose you could touch up the chips with paint but don't see how you can stop them in the future. It's what happens when you drive in traffic!

One person has said put some vaseline on them til time is found to touch up with paint.

if you do that you will have to make sure all the grease is removed or the paint won't stick. How long does it take to paint a few chips?

Seriously though is the grille just painted/sprayed with the same old English white (or snowberry or another White) paint as the equivalent colour bodywork?

You could have the grill powder coated instead of painted, which be a bit more resistant to stone chips.
Up to you if its worth the bother...

I do my grille when it gets untidy, rub down, mask carefully, spray with a can of off white (99p at an auto jumble, obsolete VW colour). Make sure you put something behind the grille as it makes a horrible mess on the rad.

I've found Ford Ivory White to be close enough to OEW.

I think OEW was re-named Rover Arrum (or something like that) White. Or you could do the old favourite of 50/50 mix of Dulux magnolia and pure brilliant white gloss :D
