Hi all
just aquired a 68 2 door saloon very clean underneath and not bad outside.
Am looking to do an engine conversion to a fiat 1.8 or 2.0L turbo but need loads of advice as what is best and for all relevant parts for said conversion.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Best person to speak to is John Beardmore (Beardmore bros).

He has an extensive knowledge of these conversions having performed a lot himself.
See: http://www.beardmorebros.co.uk/

The engines are getting a bit thin on the ground now, but if you wave enough cash, I'm sure you'll get one!

The Fiat stuff is becoming harder to find, and the engines have been superseeded by more modern stuff.
You could also try Jonathan at JLH who could tell you about the Rover K-series option (K-series gives fantastic power to weight). 01926 421119 and he has a website too.

If cost is a consideration the Fiat route will be far less than the `K` series though.

Thanks rayofleamington for the plug, I have spoken to Julian today and I think he's opting for the Fiat option on cost/technology grounds.
The phone number you quoted was for my last workshop, this has now changed to 01926 817890. Call in sometime Ray, you'll like the new premesis, over at Napton On The Hill near Southam.
Do you still have the 2dr saloon, if so please let me know as I need a donor for a 310bhp KV6 project car.
Cheers

jonathon,
Thanks for the new number - I'll update it in my book.
I still have the 2door saloon looking for a new home - it needs a sill and rear spring mounts but for a 310hp project I guess the original structure isn't too important...

mmm KV6 - that would be fun :-D

There was a moggie just sold on Ebay and the owner had a full Twin Cam kit up for grabs, just read the ad notes
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... RK:MEWA:IT.

I MIGHT have a complete Twin-cam set up available soon.

(Has ALL been rebuilt less than 3000 miles ago by well known Fiat tuning company = will still cost considerably less than K-series transplant though!)

I have this mad idea in my head :-? that could just become reality.

I need to do a bit more research first before I decide what to do!!

Cheers

Julian,
your post doesn't say where you are but if you are anywhere near Jct 1A on the M40 or Jct 16 on the M25 I have a twin cam in my minor and you are welcome to see it for guidance and I can tell you what I know. Alternatively if you want to have a chat on the phone send me a private note.

Also there was an article in the members area on installing the twin cam, I assume it is still there.

The twin cams are getting harder to find but you still see a few on ebay, though condition is always a worry. If you go the twin cam route I'd factor a rebuild into the cost unless you know the engines history.

Regards,
Wal
