Hi Folks,

I have a considerable quantity of water gather in the lower corners of my front screen. I've sealed & re-sealed the rubbers, but it still leaks forming puddles on the floor !

Any idea where it's coming from or how it's getting in? (and no smart answers like....the clouds or outside!!)

Try the windscreen wiper spindle gaskets!

They're cheap to buy (fitting's a little more fun). It's also worth checking the drain holes from the bonnet /front wing (near the bulkhead) and the bonnet gasket (bulkhead).

Plus, of course, any other odd little cracks/pinholes etc...
It's worth taking up the carpets and using lots of paper to see if you can find where the leak starts...

If all else fails, take up all the carpets and use the local drive through car wash!

Rich as Colin says the wiper spindles are an often overlooked leaking point as are the bonnet hinge rubbers it not unknown for them to become slackened a bit.
1st point to start is with an assistant and a hose pipe to try and locate the source of the leak while looking under the dash as leaks often start in one place and run along something and drip at another point, if it is the screen rubber often the original sealer goes hard and even putting in more wont always re-seal it (you should have seen what was under mine that were done recently)
If the water that gathers in the corners of the screen stays there for some time at least you know its not leaking at that point because if it was it soon dissappears.
It can be useful to put some newspaper on the floor 1st so you will see exactly where the drip is coming from and then follow it back.

Also a loose connection on the windscreen washer pipe is another potential source of wet floors.

Ray, Thanks for the reminder about the hinges (I thought of it just as I was in bed - sad isn't it!).

I'm not sure about the assistant & hosepipe - my assistant (wife) is more likely to soak me (accidentally) and point it throught the window!...

As Kevin suggests, use lots of paper to find out where the water isn't coming in (height, distance from door etc). Then look to see if it's running along something (heater pipes/air ducts/parcel shelf etc..

Commiserations friend I'm having exactly the same problem. On one side of the front screen it's leaking between rubber and glass, on the other side between rubber and body. And I have a brand new screen rubber that was fitted by a pro !!!
I'm hoping that because of the cold weather it hasn't seated properly and will settle in with time. In the mean time I've covered Joe up and I'm on the lookout for some sealer that can be used when it's wet. I'm sure somebody mentioned it on this forum recently.....

Well I assumed (maybe wrongly again) that Rich meant it gathered on the outer corners of the screen which would be quite normal on a well sealed screen and that puddles were forming on the floor from an unknown source, I think we need a reply from Rich to expand a bit more.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I spent the weekend in Cork with my girlfriends family. Lovely place Cork, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

Just to expand slightly.

The water is pooling inside the windscreen in the lower corners, it then overflows down the diagonal seam in the dash. I assume it's then finding its way to the floor, and that the floor water isn't another leak.

I re-sealed the wiper spindles a while back as they did leak. I haven't re-fitted the gloveboxes so I can feel the underside of the spindles, so far so good.

So, the leak does seem to point to the screen seal?????? IS it worth pulling the screen out a trying a new seal?

If the old one is looking a bit perished or sorry for itself it will probably need replacement and if yours is pooling on the inside of the screen it suggest the rubber is leaking.
