I collected a spare 803cc engine/gearbox gearstick, a couple of days ago, and it looks quite different to the one I got as part of an 803 engine & gearbox purchase[frame]Image[/frame]
The one on the left is pre-existing (and looks identical to another "spare" I have), the one on the right is the recent collection.
There is another difference - the length of the stick/shaft[frame]Image[/frame]The gearknob nearest the camera is made of rubber and is on the "recent" stick, the other gearknob looks to be hard bakelite.
The shape and bend of the shafts is the same - can anyone shed any light on the diferences?

Well I can confirm that mine is the same as yours on the left.

The one with the larger gearknob looks to be off an Austin?
Our original and factory spec car is the smaller Bakelite type! It is also a straight rod.

Just for info, the gear knob on the left is, I am informed a Series II, right is a Series MM[frame]Image[/frame]

I've come across three different 803 gearsticks on my travels;

Long straight - off a 1953 car
Short straight
Short, bent - off 1956 car I think.

None to hand so I can't compare the size of the fitting at the stick base.
