Which boot seal?

Hi chaps.
I know my 1966 saloon should have the wide self adhesive boot seal that sticks to the bootlid and I fitted a new one of these last summer when I bought the car, but it's leaking again already.
Is the earlier strip type that pushes onto the boot aperture any better? I presume it'd fit ok but are they any better or worse for sealing? Any other tips for sealing boots?
Thanks.
Neil.

I had this issue and I did end up fitting the seal that fits to the car, and not the lid. Where the seal then touches the inside of the boot lid I run some self adhesive neoprene foam round for it to seal against.

My boot lid is not the best fit, and does seem to sit up quite a long way, but it locks and works fine, and does not seem to leak.

Worth making sure that water is not getting in around the number plate light, creeping down and in where the wires come through.

I agree. My 61 had foam seal stuck to boot lid. As the foam seal wasn't a closed cell type water had got in and rusted the bottom. replaced with the type which fits to the body. There does seem to be a right and wrong way to fit so worth experimenting. Got mine from ESM.

Thanks chaps. I'll try one of the early type push on seals that goes on the body then to see if that's any better.
