As above - there a re good reports of the complete new dizzies sold by Accuspark/Powerspark - I suggest the 45D is the best one to go for. Attempting to retrofit 'electronics' to old dizzies seems to end in tears all too often....don't do it!

my distributor arrived today and I will fit it tomorrow, is it correct that to fit it I make sure the old rotor arm is pointing to cylinder one. I then remove the old distributor andfit the new one with the rotor also lined up to cylinder one?
Do I need to be wary of anything else whilst fitting please and is this correct information?

That's pretty much it - you will need to fine tune the timing once the engine is running -and at working temperature.

for the fine tuning, would it be a case of turning the distributor until smooth running is obtained?

I've been thinking about these. I think my car's fitted with a 25D at present, if I bought an electronic distributor should I still go for a 45D?

I have the Accuspark kit fitted to my 25D, works perfectly.
I did take the chance to completely strip and service the dizzy when I fitted it, its been faultless and just some fine tuning to get the timing correct.
Can't remember how much the kit was but I actually went into Accuspark in Hemel Hempstead as its up the road from my head office where I just happned to be.

The 45D is the later/better dizzy... Lucas made changes for good reason - not just for 'fun'.

And does it fit straight on in place of the old 25D & use the same leads etc?

I went on a journey tonight and the car was fine running well until I was on my way home....
Every time I put the car In gear the revs lowered and cut out also I ended up with hardly any power on acceleration.
Could this be a timing issue maybe?

Yes - the 45 slots straight in. And yes - did you optimise the idling timing? Then you should do a run to check for pinking - if none - advance till it pinks, then back it off slightly. And did you tighten the dizzy down properly?

Ive removed and refitted the distributor today and Iam happy that it is fitted flush.I have turned the distributor either way in order to get the smoothest running.Do I loosen the bracket on the distributor to get more movement to adjust as there is only a small amount of adjustment on the bolt that mounts the distributor bracket.
The car starts first time every time, however there is a knock on higher revs which wasn't there before. Also if I push in my clutch pedal then the car stall straight away..is there anything else Iam missing please?
