(only) clutchplate renewal

Hi all,

having all parts apart for my rebuild i would like to renew my clutchplate, and the plate only...since the known suppliers only sell the as a set, i was wondering i anybody knows this item;

I used one when I fitted a Marina 1300 engine to a friends Minor Works well, no problems.

As an aside, that was one of the few places I could find that would supply just the clutch plate and not a kit. I did fit a NOS release bearing though.
Modern clutch kits 'can' leave a lot to be desired, my thinking was that the original pressure plate was in perfect working order and changing it for a potentially faulty new item was not appealing to me!

You WILL need a new release bearing too. But very wise to retain the existing pressure assembly - provided the wear surface is not 'cracking up' .

Thanks for the replies.....!

in fact, that was exactly my motivation only changing the plate (and of coarse the release bearing, wich was "all gone" anyway...)

the other options was re-fitting new friction-material on the plate itself, although this options cost me about 80 euros....so better changing the plate itself i guess.

A clutch pressure plate should last for several friction plates and if you fit a roller bearing thrust then that should last as well. So far I have managed to buy just the friction plate and thrust bearing.
Incidentally the design of the 918/803/948 thrust bearing has changed, has anyone had any problems fitting the newer design to the side valve engine?

If it's on the left then it has v little graphite exposed...so can't see it lasting long.....

How far should the carbon stick out past the metal on a new release bearing?
