Petrol tank fitting

Hi all.
I'll hopefully soon be starting to put my Morris back together. I've had the fuel tank out while I did the welding, when I put it back should it be sat on a gasket or seal of any kind? When I took it out it appeared to be stuck in with a bead of seam sealer or similar.
Thanks.

There should be a mastic seal between the tank and floor, I used Dum Dum, although I daresay the softer mastic gun type would also be ok.

So just a run of seam sealer around the lip would be ok then.

As an alternative to seam sealer you can use "plumbers mate" a non setting flexible mastic.
