Hello good people of the MMOC!
This is my first post and I hope you can help me out!
I've got a 1970 1000 Minor and I saw wooden paneling as posted below on a similar model on youtube.
Not sure if its a fablon kind of print but i was wondering if anyone knew how I could imitate this myself on mine!

have a look at the people that do vinyl signs for vans etc, the sky is the limit thay can do allsorts on the comp and print onto vinyl,its self addesive then you just stick it on, simples

Are you really sure you want to do that?

I always preach "each to his own", but why on earth would anyone want to do that?

i dont know either but in vinyl it can be peeled off!

Hmmm yeah I dunno! just think It might look quite hearty and rustic! looking to do something to make mine stand out from the rest. (There are a lot of minors where I live! Three on my street and one round the corner!) any suggestions, I mean the bodywork is already near prestine, but I think it needs a bit more of a unique edge, would respray racing green with a black stripe flowing with the bonnet groove but unsure how much that would cost

Lovely car - throw away the nasty/naff/dangerous headlamp peaks - and it will be perfect..... I wouldn't mess it up with stripes/imitation wood or a respray... But it's your car, and yours to do with whatever you wish! I hope you don't.......

You could stick wood effect fablon on the headlamp peaks.It would be a statement.

That's probably the worst bit of tac ever, you should let the other minor owners make a dogs breakfast out of theirs and keep yours as standard.

Seriously, it's hideous but your choice of course.

Your car looks pretty good as it is but to make a car stand out what works best is a REALLY good polish and wax. (I'm serious)

If you think your paint is thick enough, first give it a very good cleaning with a clay bar or similar, use 3000 or 5000 grit sandpaper to remove any small scratches and then use a good 2 stage or 3 stage polish to get it as shiny and smooth as possible.

Good paint is just the start, the glass will also need polishing to remove all water marks. Glass polish is not the same as the one used in paint and is a bit tricky but the results look great.

Do the same with the chrome, rubber parts and interior and your car will stand out.

Cheers guys! I defiantly think I will stay away from the wooden print if it looks a bit crap. A second, third and - in this case - 9th opinion is enough persuasion! Has anyone ever had a respray done? Experiences?

A complete change of colour will need a spray inside and out and good resprays are not cheap i paid 3k to have an MO sprayed a few years back in South Wales, but prices vary so much depending on where about's in the country you are and the amount of preparation required to get a good base. So if you wish to investigate this route i would say call a local body shop to get a ball park figure.

if you wish your car to stand out have you thought of alloy wheels? they are not cheap and we have limited choices but will work out cheaper than a respray.

Have you thought about changing the seats? ford Ka are currently popular (drop me a PM with your email address if you would like me to send you a newsletter on fitting alternate seats).

I thought I'd do mine in tartan but having a job finding a supplier of tartan paint. Maybe someone could help?
