Hello to all MMOC members and "guten Tag"

My name ist Dirk, I´m a brand new member in the mmoc und new here. I´m 50 years old and I live in the north west of germany - next big city is Bremen.

4 weeks ago I bought the car I dreamed a lot of years to get.
Its a 4-door Saloon from March 1954 with the splitscreen with the 1098 engine and some other little updates (disk breaks, alternator etc.) Some work is to to ... i ordered a new set of overrider, fresh carpets

I called her "Miss Marple" because i like Margarete Rutherforf in the old bw films on tv.

I hope, i find some help if there are questions! And i´m shure they will come
oh - yes the first question ... there it is: whats the right name of Miss Marples colour??
Claredon Grey its to much to dark. i don´t know?

In these pictures - on I guess on a a dull day - it does look like Clarendon Grey.....

I would say its unquestionably Clarendon Grey GR6.
Birch Grey is MUCH lighter.

I bought 4 cans of "Clarendon Grey" ... but the color tone is much darker than the at my Minor whts wrong?[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Could the car have been re sprayed in a non Morris colour some time in the past?

Possibly the paint in the cans?

Try and find pictures of other Clarendon Grey Minors to compare - in books or on the internet. Your car looks just the same as the Clarendon Grey car I once owned. Your car has probably been resprayed at sometime too, so the shade used may not be exact but it looks about right. Photographs don't always replicate colours very well but I really don't think your car is any other colour.

Can you spray a test sample of your new paint and hold that against the car then post a photograph of the result?

I have bought aerosol cans of car paint in the past and not always found them a successful match.

If you are happy with the existing colour you should be able to get some paint mixed to match it.

It depends on what type of paint the previous owner used to re-spray your car. It may be 2 pack rather than the original cellulose. 2pack colours are not quite the same. Take your car to a car bodyshop where they spray cars. They should be able to match the paint correctly for you and put it in a tin/aerosol can.

Yes ÁSL642 - that will be the right way. The car was resprayed 20 years ago and I do not know the colour. I will ask by the bodyshop.
