Hi, I have recently came by a morris 8 z van 1947, I would like to sell it but don't know what it's worth, it has been restored in the past but been dry stored for about 20 years, the chassis looks solid but some of the body work needs restoring again, the engine is not seized, could someone give me a very rough idea of what it is worth please[frame]

Hi
I would check out the site recommended by Brian above to get an idea of values, but my suggestion would be use ebay to auction it to find the market value. This is rather than use specialist auction companies who seem to charge fairly heavy fees as a comparison.
A good ad with plenty of information and photos, and a high reserve price, would establish what 'the market' thinks it is worth. You could always drop the reserve price with 24 hrs to go if the bids are getting close to your desired price. You could also allow 'best offers' as you might get a very high offer if someone really wants it and doesn't want to sit out the auction. Could the van have been a Post Office vehicle or had any other interesting use/owners that might increase its value? Have you got the documents, etc?
I have just put an offer on a 1934 Morris 8 tourer that needs plenty of work. These seem to fetch approx £1750 or so in that state.
If you have a price in mind for the van please let me know, as I might be interested, if it's not too far away.

Hi, thanks for the advice and yes it was a post office van I have the logbook and the original buff one too, I've had an offer of £1500 but they were very keen which makes me think it's worth more than that.
Thanks

If it can be restored to original GPO spec then it would be worth a lot more. Or it could be uprated with a late Series MM engine with oil filter, water pump, heater etc as well as the Series MM 4 speed gearbox. A lot of info in the Morris 8 Information Manual, available from the Morris Register

I have seen the Z van fetch over £3,000 in worse condition as getting very rare now >Try Ebay with a £2,000 reserve

GPO Z chassis prefix will be SZ/PO/
Body numbers for GPO Z's consecutive, which is handy.
Should have bonnet release catches/carriage dr handles on the
doors.

What a fantastic find. I wish I could me lucky enough to come across something like that. Why not restore it yourself?

No record of either registration number on DVLA file, or the Congestion Charge listing.

Hey, you Yogibear, these are nice little vans. Blow the leaves off, clean the points and plugs, charge the battery, stick some air in the tyres, put some nice clean petrol in the carb, turn on the ignition, put the handle in the hole and pray. Wind away clockwise - With a bit of luck you will have a lovely little van to play with! And by the look of things, a lovely motor-house to keep it in! Lucky old you!
