Best way to cure this please, whilst stationary? Can only think of raising the rear, starting in gear and applying brake sharply.

Run engine up to temp in neutral, sometimes the heat is enough to unseize it.

Yes - let the heat soak through for a good half hour. Then just start up in first gear with the brakes off....and a clear road in front , of course.

That was quick! Thanks, I don't want the vehicle moving Roy, I want to do it on the drive.

This happens to mine most winters -i run for 20 minutes in neutral, and then either try to start in 2nd or reverse, depending on where there is free space in front/behind the car. Usually comes off 1st time, but it has taken 2-3 cycles of forwards backwards on 1 occasion.

Be VERY wary of doing it in reverse .......

I thought that was kind of obvious......but yes, of course......
Just to reinforce the comment about reverse - never ever bump start a Minor (or Mini) in reverse - it's very easily broken.....

Amazing, went out to the van this morning, preparing to sort this clutch thing out, opened the door and instinctively pressed the clutch pedal to re-access the situation, and low and behold, clutch working ok! Just think I could actually have had to open the tool box if I hadn't tried the pedal first. Phew, close call! :D
