There's a bit of a leak on the brake fluid reservoir (I believe that's what it is). I went to my mechanic and he said he wouldn't know where to get one. It's not the hose or jubilee clip.

Can anyone recommend a retailer? I'd rather go to a shop than buy one on eBay and get the wrong thing. I've emailed ESM already.

I feel a bit bad about all this questions, but you're the best people to ask.

I recommend you talk to JLH (http://www.jlhmorrisminors.co.uk) about one of their remote reservoirs, they use a copper pipe with proper unions as far as I know, which is much better than others than you can buy, and won't leak like yours does. Some kits use a black plastic tube that turns porous, which is probably what you are describing.

As for the porous tube, if that's something inside the reservoir then maybe it is. But I ran my finger down the back of the clip and those and they were dry; I assume there's some tiny crack in the plastic on the reservoir.

Or just do away with it ! Nowt wrong with the standard underfloor master cylinder with combined reservoir. ANY brake fluid leak is an automatic MOT fail ......

Chesney is referring to the flexible pipe/hose that fits between the reservoir and the master cylinder. Indeed, many kits were supplied with a length of black plastic hose that seems to 'bleed' or seep brake fluid (including the one on mine. ).

I'll be renewing my entire system when I rebuild in a few months, and I'm thinking of buying a flaring tool and making my own kunifer pipes. Two questions:

1 Is this a good idea for a moderately competent amateur?
2 What else would be needed to connect a kunifer pipe between a reservoir and the master cylinder? JLH's do look a tad expensive.

Kunifer is ideal for your brake pipes -just put a dab of brake fluid on the tip as you make the flares. Sorry - can't help with the reservoir - never seen the need for it myself!

Epdm hose is ok with brake fluid, fuel line is not and can go porous.

I used epdm to replace a leaking clutch reservoir hose on my nieces ka a couple of years ago which is still fine, new hose approx 18" long from ford was £60! the epdm cost less than a tenner from ebay.
