Clutch Alignment

Hi,
Does anyone have a trick to correctly align a clucth without the tool?

You CAN use a screwdriver if you don't mind looking directly down the clutch centre and into the spigot bearing to line it up. I have done it before now.

My dad used to whittle a rough clutch alignment tool out of a bit of broom handle. It needed a bit of patience, but he found that whistling used to help pass the time while he did it. :)

I have used a valve grinding stick - pull off one of the rubber ends and wrap tape around the part where the clutch splines are to get a snug fit - then do it by eye to get the stick central in the release bush (ie to get the clutch central)

That's exactly what I do . I have got a spare first motion shaft for Minor if anyone wants one, to do the job properly.

Thanks for the replies guys, i managed to make my own tool using a socket extension and masking tape built up to fit perfectly. :D
