Where are these seats from please?
Although these came to me in a Morris Minor, I'm really keen for any ideas as to their original setting. All thoughts appreciated![frame]

Re: Where are these seats from please?
The base of the seat definitely Looks like a Morris Minor passenger seat. I would suggest it has received a new seat cover.
Charles Ware offers a similar style of seat covers when they restore a Minor. Mine has the following:

There are other companies that do Minor restorations, perhaps one of them has manufactured the seat cover.
Cheers

Just been and compared the photos to my 1955 Austin a30. Superficially similar but wider than the a30 and the metal frame shown in the pics would not work in the Austin. It wouldn't straddle the crossmember.

Re: Where are these seats from please?
I was looking on ebay last night and saw some seats the same as these in a yukky beige and they are off a Worsely 1500 / Riley 1.5. Hence another poster recognising the minor seat bases - they were probably very similar if not the same.

Re: Where are these seats from please?
No, I don't think they're Wolseley/Riley seats. I've owned a Wolseley 1500 and once fitted Riley 1.5 seats into a Minor but the frames of these are quite different. The covers do look BMC but the frames are more substantial than any of their small cars. I wonder if the had a commercial origin? The round bar at the front, which would be secured by the mounting clamps, looks a larger diameter than the Minor/Riley Wolseley?

One of the larger 'counties' Austins from the 1950's?

Re: Where are these seats from please?
Doubtful. The "Counties" models were large, more expensive cars with 4 doors so generally had more elaborate leather seat facings and no need to tip forward. These are obviously tipping seats so probably from a 2door vehicle, and the trim covering is very plain, suggesting a fairly lowly model.

Re: Where are these seats from please?
It appears that the basic seat frame was used in many cars, some with rubber straps and some with coil springs like this one. I saw a mid-Fifties Ford Perfect/Anglia with the same frame as a Minor but coil springs like this one. I also recall seeing one with a metal pan holding the springs. Each car manufacture must have selected different upgrades and then designed mountings specific to the model. My point is you may have to think outside the BMC box and bear in mind the legs it has now may have been a modification in order to mount a used seat in a Minor. Definitely not a USA vehicle.

Well thank you all for taking time over these ideas! I think I need to do some more research but thinking outside my current box!
