Fuel pump query

Hi all.
My Morris is fitted with an electronic fuel pump of unknown origin. To make it serviceable & hopefully reliable (and because I miss the ticking noise!), I'm considering fitting it with a new SU pump, are the ones that you buy new now as good quality/reliable as the originals and serviceable in the same way?
Are they polarity sensitive? The advert I saw for one (I think it was Bull Motif) made no mention of polarity & as it has an alternator my car is negative earth.
Thanks.
Neil.

I've fitted several new SU pumps and had ne reason to think that they are sub-spec in any way.
Points pumps aren't polarity sensitive.
Electronic ones are.

you may find it hard to get a genuine su with points, When I tried last year only the electronic ones were available .may be different now. The one I got tickes a bit too loudly, much more that the original SU

It should be no trouble to purchase a new SU electric pump with contacts which, as already said, are not sensitive to polarity. I bought one recently "off the shelf" from Bull Motif Spares. It ticks away just like the original did........until it stopped  Other suppliers have them too I've no doubt.

Thanks for the replies, once the Morris is back on the road I think I'll buy one of the new su pumps for her.
Cheers,
Neil.

Thanks Roy!
Just fit the pump on rubber mounts and that gets rid of the noise.

Irmscher,
Yes you can but why, I would just fit new points and a transil.
You can buy them ready made up from John James.
Here's the article on how to do it.
